GRANNFEJDEN (BAD NEIGHBOURS)

Grannfejden – a new Swedish comedy-drama with theatrical release on February 20, 2026

Director Ulf Malmros returns with a major new feature for the big screen: the Swedish comedy-drama Grannfejden, premiering in cinemas on February 20, 2026. The film is written and directed by Malmros himself and stars Kjell Bergqvist, Tuva Novotny, Robert Gustafsson, and Ia Langhammer.

Plot

After an embarrassing incident online goes viral, influencer Hanna decides to leave the big city and move back to her tiny hometown in Värmland, where she stays with her older sister Emma. Emma works as a communications officer for the municipality and is tasked with welcoming the newly arrived former prime minister, Stefan Carlsson, to the area.

But the idyll soon shatters when Carlsson clashes with his neighbor, the eccentric local Harry Flodman, over a foul-smelling outhouse located on Carlsson’s land. The situation escalates into a full-blown neighborhood feud, and Hanna finds herself caught in the middle when she takes a job as Flodman’s housing support worker—despite threats of eviction from Carlsson. Choosing between the side of power and the loyal neighbor becomes increasingly difficult.
